If Azealia Amanda Banks hasn’t had enough attention over the past few months, then the 23 year old has decided to get all emotional with her fans by flipping the tables in her favour to gain a nice drop of compassion. Her first studio album wasn’t released until late 2014, but the star kept her name in the headlines despite the lack of interest. She has claimed wasn’t being appreciated like other stars as she is “Black” and that white people automatically get a pass of acceptance. The several feuds she has sparked appear to be a deliberate attempt by her to bring attention to herself, probably because she feels not enough reference is made to her. Her Twitter spat with the Australian “Fancy” rapper Iggy Azalea is one example of her push for attention.
PAIN AND FEUDS:
Behind her boisterous persona, hides a layer of painful experiences. Azealia revealed she had suffered at the hands of an erratic former partner. On top of that, the Manhattan born star also lost her father at just two years of age, when he lost his fight to pancreatic cancer. Being known more for her mouth than her hits, the “212” singer doesn’t go unheard when she voices her emotions in relation to slavery. In the midst of the Iggy and T.I feud, she went out of her way to be heard by a slave master’s descendant. Last year On Boxing Day, Banks took to her Twitter account, raving tweeting mad: stating that all descendants of prominent slave-trading families “should all have their houses burned and their finances seized.”She also sent immediate direct messages to the descendants themselves, one being James DeWolf Perry, a descendant of James DeWolf. DeWolf was an eighteenth century politician, and a proud slave-owner. Azealia demanded to know details on the wealthy heir’s finances; Brave and no care in the world is what this young artist declares. If that wasn’t enough of a racket the then angered rapper splurged “I think white men all need to be locked away in a psych ward… Considering the atrocities committed by white men ON THE WORLD”later tweeted by “someone should kick your ass, and punch you right in your stupid smiling cracker face.”
The outspoken singer burst on to the music scene back in 2011 with the smash hit song 212, which featured friend Lazy Jay. The song itself was a hit but it seems to be her only one which is highly frustrating for the wanna be noticed rapper. The song itself is uber controversial as it speaks about same sex relations, which led to the politically correct singer’s admittance to being rather open in regards to her raunchy sexuality choices.
“The song Desperado? That’s about when I get beaten up by your boyfriend. For the past couple of years I have been losing my mind and driving myself past several points of insanity. But it was from that insanity that I was able to write the album,” she admitted to her close friends in New York. She told insiders ‘I was dating this guy from when I was 17 years old. He was much older than me and he had a wife and he lied to me and told me he was divorced so that I would fall in love with him. And then he told me he was going to get a divorce and I was like: ‘I thought you were already divorced?’ Then we broke up and I went to Montreal and wrote 212.’
Her dalliance with a married man created problems of its own and soon turned physical, Azealia recalled how her deceitful ex would take testosterone, steroids and random antidepressants. Things came to an ultimate head when he lashed out at the 23-year-old.
“We got in to a fight and he beat me up. He actually beat me up twice because I was stupid and went back. And that is really why I am f**king crazy. Because that man has driven me crazy,” she said in useless attempt to justify her own present anger issue.
It looks like the writer’s present hot head can be explained by possible delayed post traumatic syndrome (PTS). She needs to seek help and talk to someone if she is still haunted by the experience up until now.
