American President-elect Donald Trump has picked billionaire Republican donor, Betsy DeVos to lead the U.S Education Department.
His selection of a wealthy and smart woman can be seen as a positive step. Noble women with experience and intelligence are always an indispensable asset to any organisation or administration.
Being a billionaire, Devos will not have any incentive for anything resembling fraudulent activity but will be driven and committed to leaving a legacy in education.
DeVos, from Michigan is a former chair of the state’s Republican Party. The highly regarded billionaires has already discussed “the Common Core mission, of enhancing national education standards in the U.S. She also aims to promote the growth of school choice across the nation, according to a statement put out by Trump’s team.
”I am honoured to work with the President-elect on his vision to make American education great again, the delighted woman said. The status quo in education is not acceptable. However, she did not identify the failings in the education system which she summarily asserts to be unacceptable, and how she plans to improve or enhance it.
The billionaires may be saving those details for the time when president-elect Donald Trump is actually sworn into the White House as U.S President.
Devos is known for her high standards of proficiency, though it will be no surprise if critics turn up to discredit one thing or another about her past in a way that confuses public opinion. All the choices made by president-elect Trump are automatically and inevitably under scrutiny, as the world attempts to predict what an administration under Trump would look like.
DeVos currently serves as chairman of the American Federation for Children-a non-profit organisation with the goal of improving the U.S.’s K-12 education through the advancement of systemic and sustainable public policy to empowers parents. The fact she also targets children from low-income families raises her appeal.
