Disgraced Luton Social Worker Begins 31 Months Sentence For Stealing From Elderly

By Charlotte Webster-
A  shamed care worker from Luton has began her  jail sentence of more than two and a half years after stealing from vulnerable and elderly people she had previously been employed to care for.

Disgraced Charmaine Wilson, 52, of Blundell Road, Luton was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to burglary. In December 2018, Wilson broke into a house in Luton where she previously worked as a carer for the family. She exploited her knowledge of the property and entered it at night to steal money from them.

Bedforshire cops, some of whom aid with research and analysis with The Eye Of Media.Com on matters surrounding police conduct in other forces, notified this publication after releasing the information on Tuesday night.  Ms Wilson’s criminal conduct has been seen as a wake up call for elderly couples not to always be totally trusting of carers.

Ms Wilson was searching the home when she was interrupted by one of the elderly occupants who fell to the floor when he confronted her. She has made no attempt to help him and searched his pockets whilst he was lying helpless on the ground before making off with more than £400 in cash.

Cops managed to piece together Wilson’s movements on the night of the offence after reviewing  CCTV and  looking at her phone. At the time of the arrest, cops also recovered distinctive boots Wilson was seen wearing on the CCTV.

Detective Constable Benjamin Robertson, who investigated the incident, said: “This was a shocking and vile burglary in which Wilson took advantage of elderly and vulnerable victims. She showed no regard for the occupants of the home she was previously trusted to care for, in fact she used her knowledge of the property to steal from them.

“Our investigation delivered overwhelming amount of evidence and prompted Wilson to plead guilty to this terrifying break in. She will now spend a lengthy time behind bars reflecting on her actions.”
