A schoolgirl has been arrested after a video showing a young girl being attacked on a bus in Birmingham went viral.
Police arrested a 15-year-old girl, from Kingstanding, North Birmingham on suspicion of assault on Wednesday morning, January 28. Cops say the horrid attack took place on December 22 last year. The public have been asked not to take matters into their own hands.
It was falsely suggested online that the video was filmed in Walsall but the attack actually took place in Birmingham and police believe it happened on December 22.
Insp Lauren Glass, from CID, said: “The response from members of the public, clearly disgusted by what they’ve seen online, has been overwhelming and we’ve had lots of people getting in touch to provide names of people involved.
The suspect remained in police custody as officers planned to speak to another girl later on Wednesday afternoon. The clip depicts the scared victim covering her face as she was attacked, was watched more than 500,000 times since being posted on social media on Monday night, January 26.
