Deontey Wilder may be back in action this year to fight for the Wbc belt he lost to Tyson Fury last October.
The Alabama heavy hitter lost a scintillating battle to Fury in one of the best heavyweight battles seen in recent times that include four knock downs.
And he took to social media on Friday morning to state he is “very happy and content being retired” as he enjoyed a four-mile run.
TThe 33-year-old has yet to officially inform the WBC that he plans to vacate the heavyweight belt.
He is due to hold talks with WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman next week with the governing body keen to discuss his future.
Should Fury indeed vacate his strap, Otto Wallin’s manager has said his charge is desperate to land a world title shot.
Wallin lost a very close controversial fight to Tyson Fury in 2014, and is ready to face the former WBC king Wilder, who hasn’t fought since being stopped in his trilogy bout with Fury in October.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salita said: “Tyson Fury is the people’s champion, gracious and classy!
“If Tyson vacates the title, Otto is more than ready to fight Wilder for the title.”
He added: “He is even ready to challenge the winner of [Oleksandr] Usyk’s rematch against [Anthony] Joshua.”
Wallin exclusively told SunSport in March how he was ready to fight British icon AJ should his rematch with Usyk fail to materialise.
The 31-year-old is not a complete stranger to Joshua, with the pair fighting twice in the amateur ranks.
Joshua also recruited him as a southpaw sparring partner before he knocked out Charles Martin, 36, in 2015.
Wallin remarked: “We had two fights in the amateurs which were wars, could have got either way, he won two decisions.
“But they were good fights and that would be a reason for him to look at it and say, ‘Hey, this would be a really good fight’.
“It would be entertaining, I’m a worthy opponent and a good fight for him.”

Two weeks ago, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Sky Sports he expects Wilder to fight in 2022.
“He’s taking it easy, he’s weighing up his plans for the future, he had a very busy reign as a champion, two knockout losses to Fury, difficult but he’s matured and he’s doing very well,” Sulaiman said.
“He’s having a good time with his wife, he’s enjoying life but I’m sure he’ll be back.
“He’s one of those fighters that you rarely see in the ring that has the ability to knock somebody out with one punch and he has had many exciting fights. He’s a great fighter and great person.
