Manchester cops have arrested and charged a woman with failing to comply with the Coronavirus Act after police were called to a house party in Bury, multiple times.
Manchester police confirmed they arrested a 31-year-old woman after having to break up the party at a house Cottam Street, Elton, on Saturday evening.
On Wednesday afternoon, the force said Samantha Dobbs, 31, of Pilling Street, Elton, has now been charged with failing to comply with direction/instruction/requirement/restrictions imposed under Schedule 21 of the Coronavirus Act 2020. Around 10 people were at the party and that police attended three times in total. Dobbs will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 13th May.
Manchester police did not explain why the other individuals who were at the party were neither fined nor arrested, except to say they were following government guidelines to first engage those who breach government policy before pursuing any action. It is believed Ms Dobbs was particularly defiant before being arrested, leaving the other policy breakers free to go home.
Potentially, they could have formed smaller groups at one of their homes. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police told The Eye Of Media.Com:
“On more than one occasion on Saturday 4 April 2020, police received reports of non-compliance at a property on Cottam Street, Bury. We observed the guidelines given which was first to engage and encourage the group to leave”.
Manchester police fined a man last week who was seen hanging around Millenium Green was fined and arrested after he ran off and returned a short time later. Manchester police came back to the green and arrested two members of the group for the offence of contravening a requirement as to the restriction of movement during an emergency period.
