A conservative think tank is calling for Prince Harry’s US visa application to be released so Americans can see whether or not he admitted to his past drug use before moving to California in the summer of 2020.
The Heritage Foundation, one of the country’s preeminent right-wing think tanks, has called for US officials to release the details of the prince’s application so Americans can see whether or not he was “properly vetted” before being allowed to enter the country.
The thinktank who are clearly unimpressed with Harry’s public attacks on the royal family, re plotting his downfall after he wrote an unflattering about the royal family laden with bombshells and intimate disclosures about life on the inside, most notably an alleged attack by his brother, prince William.
Applicants for US visas are typically asked about their criminal history and drug use.
A request has been submitted for him to release a copy of his application by a US conservative think tank to see whether he admitted to his drug use before moving to California in 2020.
“This request is in the public interest in light of the potential revocation of Prince Harry’s visa for illicit substance use and further questions regarding the Prince’s drug use and whether he was properly vetted before entering the United States,” Mike Howell, director of the foundation’s Oversight Project, told the Daily Mail.
The foundation’s push for information on Harry’s visa application comes after the Prince revealed his use of a range of substances including marijuana, mushrooms, and cocaine during his promotion of his new book Spare.
Harry writes in the book that he first took cocaine at the age of 17 and used it sparringly since then but has said that his use of marijuana and mushrooms helped him deal with past trauma.
The recreational use of marijuana is legal in California, while the state has also taken steps towards decriminalising the use of psychedelics like mushrooms. Oregon, just to the north, legalised the use of small amounts of hallucinogenic mushrooms in 2020.
During an interview to promote his book, Harry told Dr Gabor Maté in an interview that his use of the psychedelic drug ayahuasca “brought me a sense of relaxation, release, comfort, a lightness that I managed to hold on to for a period of time” and were a “fundamental part” of his life.
Enemies of the controversial duke of sussex are seeking to establish whether he failed to disclose his past drug use on his visa application, he could be barred from applying for US citizenship and even deported from the country where he has lived for nearly three full years. Meghan Markle, Harry’s wife, is an American citizen who was born in the Los Angeles area. Their two children were both born in the US as well.
Visa applications are confidential under the terms of the Immigration and Nationality Act — but Harry’s past drug use could also theoretically affect future visa applications.
Harry has been rebuked for revealing his drug use, with his wife Meghan also being criticised for not warning him in advance to make reference to his drug past, which was no positive reflection on the monarchy from which he hails
Prince Harry has a law suit against the publisher of the UK’s Daily Mirror newspaper to go to trial in May is not in the good books of the British press, but has so far won all his cases against the media.
However, in the court of pubic opinion, both Harry and Meghan have been found wanting, while scoring well in areas where they have been found to be wrongly treated.
Allegations of racism and isolation by his family during a period of a sustained media onslaught against his wife which apparently left her feeling suicidal has won emotional support for him in many quarters in both the Uk and the U.S, but has still left large swathes of the public cynical about the couple who have millions through their docuseries on Netflix and an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in Match 2021.
Revenge for their attacks have taken many forms , with King Charles inviting the couple to the coronation in May, but giving them second class status, and royal commentators seizing almost every possible opportunity to mock the couple.
Harry and his wife are yet to declare their acceptance or rejection of the invite, but will be far from pleased at the recent announcement that Camilla Bowler Parker will be promoted from queen console to Queen proper. This has already likely created a complex web of emotions for harry who as to accept the state of affairs, but really needs expert counsel to handle the inevitable well.
Psychologists have said that the subliminal effects of cumulative demeaning of the couple is likely to maintain a cycle of attacks between the royal family or their advocates and the duke and duchess of sussex, potentially making more damning revelations, if there are any spares left to use as a coping mechanism to handle what they would perceive as warfare.
Those engaging in this warfare are broad and wide, and include parties unrelated to other parties directly involved, provided they share a contempt against Harry and Meghan.
Achieving a deportation of Prince Harry would be a knock out blow celebrated by all rivals of the now LA based couple, who also have expensive lawyers to fight their corner as hard as required.
Harry believes he needed to fully tell his story and benefit from all the handsome monetary rewards the demand to her him has brought, but this has put him on an almost never ending path of tension and vendettas. At some point , some middle ground will be useful to move on from the past, but the time sadly may not be anytime soon.
