Kimberlee Singler, (pictured)the 35-year-old mother accused of murdering two of her children in the United States, has been apprehended in the United Kingdom.
Ms. Singler faced extradition proceedings after her arrest in central London on Saturday, casting a somber shadow over a case that has gripped the hearts of people on both sides of the Atlantic.
The shocking incident took place on December 19, 2023, when Ms. Singler’s nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son were discovered lifeless at their home in Colorado. Tragically, her 11-year-old daughter sustained injuries in the same incident.
US authorities swiftly issued a warrant for Ms. Singler’s arrest a week later, charging her with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of child abuse, and one count of assault.
The United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed that Ms. Singler was taken into custody in the Kensington area of London on December 30, 2023.
She made her first appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday for an extradition hearing and has been remanded in custody until her next court appearance scheduled for January 29.
An NCA spokesperson stated, “On Saturday 30 December 2023 in the Kensington area of London, officers from the National Crime Agency’s National Extradition Unit arrested a 35-year-old female wanted in the United States of America for offences including two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.”
The tragic incident first came to light when the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary at a residence in Colorado at 00:29 local time on December 19. Ms.
Singler and her eldest daughter were found injured and received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to the hospital. However, the police later determined that the initial report of burglary was “unfounded,” unraveling a distressing series of events.
In its latest release, the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed that Ms. Singler was arrested “without incident” in the UK. The authorities stated that additional information would be disclosed in a press conference to be scheduled in the future, shedding light on the ongoing investigation.
In the wake of this heart-wrenching tragedy, Kevin Wentz, Ms. Singler’s ex-husband, conveyed his devastation through a statement issued by his lawyer.
He expressed profound grief upon learning of the death of his children, stating that he and his family “are suffering a tremendous amount of grief and shock.”
