The debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on Sunday was riveting.
In a heated and acrimonious exchange of words, the pair held nothing back in their quest to discredit the other. Clinton was unarguably the more composed, credible, and focused. Trump intention to deal as many low blows as possible in an effort to salvage a disastrous week emanating from the recent lewd comment of his exposed, was all too clear to see.
The controversial Republican candidate began with a strategy aimed at undermining her suitability for the White House by presenting four women who would claim to have been assaulted by her husband, Bill Clinton. One of those women alleged the serious crime of rape, claiming Clinton has played a role in intimidating her from ever leaking the allegation of the public.
The woman’s account was detailed, with the intuitive semblance of truth, but without corroborative evidence. The biggest problem with the set of allegations from the women was that Bill Clinton is not the candidate for the 2016 U.S elections. She cannot conceivably be held on account of any wrongdoing of her husband if she did not endorse it. Therefore, whilst the move shine a dark light on Bill Clinton, at best Hilary was being victimized for an allegation she cannot be held responsible for.
RECKLESS TRUMP
With that blown away, it immediately brings to the fore the reckless and imprudent lewd comments made by Trump about women 11 years ago. Deplorable comments that beggar belief as to how an adult professional, let alone politician could have voluntarily made those comments on film. Trump’s dismissal of the incident as having occurred 11 years ago is untenable. Trump was a fully fledged adult in 2005 when he made those comments, and they have an irreversibly poor reflection on him.
His unwitting admission to a journalist 11 years ago was one of the most stupid things he has ever said on record. It demonstrates an alarming lack of foresight on his part that he could comfortably admit to touching women on their private parts before the consenting to the intimate and intrusive contact he distastefully bragged about. Those comments are suicidal to any political campaign, and reflects his unbounded inclination to act on impulse, without wise contemplation.
He had to quickly escape the deeply embarrassing topic and move on to something else.
“We have a divided nation, we have a very divided nation,” Trump said, as he blamed the division of the nation of people like Clinton, whom he said has too much hate in her heart. Trump’s statement that he would be a president for all the people, unlike Clinton who described his supporters as “deplorable,” is unconvincing.
LUDICROUS
How he can be a president for innocent American Muslims, after his well-documented public proposal for a blanket Ban on Muslims entering the country,is ludicrous. Trump did attempt to modify his initial misjudgment in castigating all Muslims, by substituting his original rhetoric of a total ban on Muslims to a scenario of ”extreme vetting”.
Clinton matched his amended outlook on Muslims, by also emphasizing her plans to enforce as stringent a process of vetting that is necessary, whilst implicitly condemning Trump for forgetting that America is a country of religious freedoms
SUPPORT FOR CLINTON
Clinton spoke warmly about her long life support for children and families. She expressed pride in the 30 years she’s spent in public service. She expressed a “deep devotion” to letting every American know they have a place in this country. And she worries that some people feel like they don’t have a place in Donald’s America.Deriding her rival out of a proclaimed concern for Americans, she said she had was worried of the ”Trump effect”, which had culminated in bullying in schools.
SYRIA
On the precarious situation in Syria, Clinton said it would be a serious mistake to deploy American ground forces in Syria – but ”the use of special forces and troops in Iraq is in our interests”.Trump expressed his concern about allowing Syrians into the country without knowing who they are- a legitimate point which would be duly addressed under Clinton’s adequate vetting process she had alluded to earlier in her speech.
TRUMP’S REPUTATION
Other topics were thrown into the equation during the debate, but what really carried most weight was the fact Trump’s reputation had already taken a huge hit due to the exposed tape that reflected his attitude towards women and included his crass reference to their private parts. He was outclassed by Clinton in this debate, but by a lower margin than their first encounter. He appeared nervous in the way he fidgeted in his movement behind her as she delivered a more assured and meticulously ordered speech.
Hilary Clinton, in spite of some of her shortcomings, has always been the more composed and smarter contender for the White House in this bitter race. Trump doesn’t exhibit the maturity, temperament, or foresight to lead to occupy a position of leadership in a country like America, given the wide ramifications that attend such a huge post.
