Christmas should always be related to as a season of love and forgiveness.
Too often, we forget that the original purpose of Christmas has been lost. It symbolizes the death of Christ, who was the physical representation of love and forgiveness in its very essence.
However, given the updated consensus that Christ was not actually born on Christmas day- the day preserved for the annual commemoration of his life and death- we are left with the shame of just celebrating the day the world once thought he was born.
Even more embarrassing might be the fact that many of us in society who don’t believe he ever existed or amounted to any of the alleged grandeur claims he made, celebrate Christmas.

Christmas is convenient for celebration, and has been translated from its religious or spiritual significance into a commercialized global market season for profit making.
Christmas Is About Social Celebration
We revel in alcohol during the Christmas period, more readily than in the year where our national drinking levels are collectively above the healthy limit, according to scientists. And if Chritsmas is about Christ’s birthday for Christians, the vast majority of us, it is about a social celebration where we spend and spend and give and receive presents.

Christ’s standards have been long deemed impossible; fit only for those from another planet to abide by. The turn the other cheek stuff to a slap sure resembles a recommendation for a fool who doesn’t mind receiving a hot slap twice on both sides of the cheek. Not many would offer to travel twice the distance of the journey to a police station with an arresting cop, or spend twice the time in jail, as the recommended by the Biblical Christ.
Yet, love is an undeniable force that unites all humans, one the universe understands but lacks so dearly. It exists in some relationships, some partnerships or friendships. It seems more apparent during Christmas as beautiful festive songs are heard in various bars and places.
The energy of love is often strong in the air during the festive period, and an air of forgiveness too. The latter may not always be as free flowing as the former, depending on what the grudge is. Forgiveness is a powerful energy that does as much for the giver as it does for the receiver. It is better than a magic wand, but not one easy to display where pain has been dug so deep.
Forgiveness is a powerful tool to have. It purifies the human system from the pain and hurt of the offence, and releases the offender from the guilt , hopefully forcing them to reflect on the wrong they have done.
Admission of guilt should not necessarily be a prerequisite for forgiveness-forgiveness is nicer when it is unmerited. The flow of mutual love and forgiveness is something nice, between friends and even partners or former partners.
Just letting go and starting a new chapter, leaving the past behind is worthwhile goal. The oneness of spirit and joy when we assemble in an ambient atmosphere with great Christmas music in the atmosphere is a mood and state of mind that would be great to always have.
