Christmas presents can raise the confidence of children., according to a study by a group of researchers. working with The Eye Of Media.Com.
Children who receive very nice or expensive presents will experience high levels of joy that can affect the confidence of kids. The study involved a survey questioning 40 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 and adults about past Christmas presents they had received as children, and how it affected their confidence. The group of four researchers also spoke to a small sample of 12 children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old.
Children who had received presents as expensive as laptops or brand new mobile phones before the age of 11, claimed to have developed a level of confidence and self worth than many of those who received much cheaper presents. Over 90% of al those interviewed said that satisfactory presents had made them more upbeat about life and future expectations, with about 9% saying it had made no real difference to them.
The survey was conducted between the 15th of December and the 28th of December this year. A wider sample is expected to be conducted in the early part of next year to see how satisfactory Christmas presents impacts the attitude of children to their parents and their education.
Other social factors sometimes acted to counteract the confidence factor, like bullying in school, a history of sex abuse, or witnessing domestic violence.
Barring those outside factors, those who had received Christmas presents they really liked, developed a level of confidence linked to their experiences of Christmas presents. Williamson told The Eye Of Media.Com
” From the research it seems clear that Christmas presents affect the way a child feels, but children should also be rained to understand that the same level of present cannot be expected every single Christmas, but parents should do their best”.
SUPERIORITY COMPLEX
Christmas presents can also give some children a superiority complex, which is not good. Those children who discover they have received better presents than their peers can develop confidence that makes them feel superior to their friends.
Teaching them that material possessions or expensive gifts do not for any basis for a feeling of superiority is important for parents to bear in mind.
ENERGIZE
Any type of confidence derived from Christmas presents energises the self perception of children. Most will subconsciously translate this to a feeling of self worth over the years.
This level of confidence blossoms if added to other factors that improve confidence, like them being taken to the movies in the year, bought nice clothes, and having a private tutor.
The last factor of having a tutor mainly benefits children from affluent homes, or homes where the parents have a special appreciation of education. Christmas presents that are very nice, can impact a child’s confidence a lot.
LOOKS
Other factors that will feature in the level of confidence includes how the child considers their looks, how other children see them, and what they look forward to. Christmas is especially for children , and buying them nice presents is worth it.
At the same time, it is paramount children are taught about the values of love, forgiveness and tolerance that comes with Christmas. Children who received presents they were pleased with are likely to enter 2018 in a positive and vibrant mood- the correct level of direction in life can make their future bright.
