Charlotte Webster-
The importance of choosing Your friends properly cannot be overstated. A lot can be told about you by the company you keep. This is because everyone is influenced to some degree by they friends they have.
Friends with strong principles and good ethics can contribute to shaping the way we think. Lazy unambitious friends keep you in your comfort zone, whereas driven friends keep us on our toes.
This is one of the reasons it is important to be choosing friends carefully.
INFECTIOUS
Friends often have infectious habits, irrespective of the negative contents of those habits.Young teenagers are more susceptible to negative influences from friends, as they come to terms with both puberty and their insecurities.
Adults too can fall prey to bad friends, if care is not taken. Friends with generous hearts and some good qualities can equally have terrible character traits.
EVALUATION
It is crucially important for teenagers especially to choose their friends carefully, consciously evaluating and balancing their positive and negative traits.
Some friends have traits so bad, that their good points should be ignored when it comes to a decision of whether to keep them.
Having friends who many people look up to, does not make them good company. Popular friends can be dangerous friends, much depends on who find them popular.
JOURNAL
A 2014 study published in the journal of Consumer Research found that friends can give each other the moral support needed to resist temptations, as much as they can conspire to enjoy indulgences together.
Those indulgences mutually enjoyable to any given set of friends should be closely examined by sensible individuals. Not all indulgences are good for our development, even if it gratifies our immediate feelings.
