A driving instructor captured the moment a speeding car crashed into a parade of shops in Crouch end after a police chase. Mr Batchelor told the evening standard he has used the camera since he started the business around a year and a half ago.
He said the collision was the most shocking thing that he has ever caught on film.
He told the Standard: “I caught an armed robbery once on my camera, but that wasn’t as dramatic.
“I was driving round and saw a bike pull up and he runs away with some money.
“I love it, it captures lots of things, people driving dangerously, I see a lot of things going on every day.
“Every day there’s something – I’ve had it since day one.
“I believe everyone should have a camera in their car.”
Drivers who race away from police always have something to hide, ranging from a gun, to possession of fire arms, or drugs. One thing for sure is that the police will never back down when a car tries to run away, no matter how fast they try to get away. Police cars are known to have written off their cars in chases with law breakers, they are always determined to catch them and find whatever they are trying to hide.
Police later revealed that a search of the vehicle, which had failed to halt for a stop-check in Muswell Hill, resulted in the discovery of a “large quantity” of suspected drugs. Somebody will have some explaining to do in the courts.
