Camelot, operator of The National Lottery, has confirmed the validation and payment of a EuroMillions jackpot prize won in the draw on Tuesday 8 October 2019. In the draw a single UK ticket-holder won £170,221,000 – the biggest ever win on The National Lottery.
The £170m winning ticket-holder has opted to remain anonymous. Under its licence to operate The National Lottery, Camelot has a duty of care to protect the anonymity of all National Lottery winners. Therefore no further details will be released about this ticket-holder’s claim.
This is the fifth EuroMillions jackpot win in the UK this year. In the draw on New Year’s Day, Patrick and Frances Connolly from Northern Ireland scooped a £114.9M EuroMillions jackpot followed by Ade Goodchild who banked £71M in March. The run of luck continued with a £38.2M win in April and a £123M win in June – both ticket-holders chose to remain anonymous. The £170M jackpot is the biggest prize won in the UK. The previous biggest winners in the UK were Colin and Chris Weir from Largs who won £161M in July 2011.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “What an amazing win – the biggest ever on The National Lottery! The team will now support and help guide the ticket-holder as they begin their adventure with this life changing win.
“By buying a ticket for EuroMillions or any other National Lottery game, every player is helping to raise money for Good Causes. On average, around £30 million is raised every week for projects across the UK, both big and small, including funding everything from local community projects to supporting the nation’s elite athletes.”
