At least five people have died after a crazed gunman opened fire at a school in Northern California.
The gunman was shot and killed by police, according to reports.
The inexplicable shooting occurred at the Rancho Tehama Elementary School at about 8am local time on Tuesday.County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston confirmed that one child was shot at a school, and two others were shot while in a pickup truck nearby.
The shooter was “randomly picking targets,” according to mr.Johnson. The tragedy is another incident that highlights the longstanding urgent need for gun control given the vast number of mentally ill people in America who possess guns.
Investigators recovered a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns, according to news agency Associated Press.
Three children were among the injured, and were rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Nicole Johansson, spokeswoman for a nearby hospital, said the hospital is treating four people Tuesday, including three young people.
“Multiple shots were fired in Rancho Tehama. That evolved into multiple victims and multiple shots at the school,” a Tehama County sheriff’s deputy told reporters at the scene.
“I am told the suspected shooter is deceased from law enforcement bullets,” the deputy said.

Situations like these are really sad and unfortunate, especially when the killer does not get to be punished for his offence because they are killed. They die, but leave others suffering the pain of their incredible stupidity. Gun laws desperately need to be addressed in the U.S, but the gun lobby group are always there to obstruct actions to control guns.
