Two brothers, aged six and 2 years old, have been killed in a hit-and-run crash that earlier claimed the life of his two-year-old brother .
The six-year-old was rushed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital but sadly died from the injuries.
His younger brother was also killed in the collision, which happened in MacDonald Road, Stoke, Coventry, at around 2 pm on Thursday
The boys were hit by a car in MacDonald Road, Stoke, Coventry, at around 2 pm on Thursday.
A black Ford Focus is said to have been found abandoned a short time after the crash and two people – a 22-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman – were arrested. Emergency services are at the scene and the road has been blocked. Officers were speaking to witnesses
said: “Despite the best efforts of hospital staff, the six-year-old brother involved in the collision has also sadly died.
“Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the family of the two boys.”
Two people, a managed 53 and a woman of 41, remained in custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving.
A black Ford Focus was found abandoned a short time after the crash.
Det Sgt Paul Hughes, of West Midlands Police’s collision investigation unit, said: “We are still trying to establish how this tragic incident has happened and anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to an officer should call us on 101.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare and it’s impossible to imagine their grief, but specialist officers will be supporting them as our investigation continues.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent four ambulances and other medical teams to the scene.
A spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find two pedestrians, both young boys, who had been seriously injured following the collision with the car.
“It quickly became apparent they had both suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident and following emergency trauma care at the scene by our staff, they were both quickly transported to the hospital on blue lights.
“Unfortunately, shortly after the second boy was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and accompanied by the air ambulance crew who helped to administer specialist treatment en-route.“The boy’s condition was described as critical on arrival at the hospital.”
A witness told the Coventry Telegraph that people were crying in the street.rival at the hospital it became apparent nothing could be done to save one of the boys and he was confirmed deceased.
