The British public have shown no common sense as they flocked to beaches all over the country to enjoy the bank holiday hot weather.
Images have emerged of packed beaches on Bank Holiday Monday, with reports of congestion around the UKS beauty spots as people take advantage of the easing of lockdown restrictions in England earlier this month.
Bournemouth Council and Southend Council said all its seafront car parks were full and told residents to “think twice” before visiting the beach.
Police chiefs are blaming Mr Cummings’ breach of lockdown rules last month for undermining their ability to enforce social distancing rules.
However, the tendency for the British public to breach social distancing rules have been evident before the revelation of Cummings own breach of lockdown rules.
The ease of lockdown rules that allow individuals to go out unrestrained was always going to result in beaches being overcrowded, after the British public had endured over 6 week in lockdown mode.
Advice from Bournemouth council and Southend Council for tourists to stay away were all to no avail.
Bournemouth council tweeted: “Our seafront car parks are full. Please think twice before visiting the beach there are other less busy but equally lovely open spaces to enjoy or please stay home
The rules, which require people to keep two metres away from anyone who is not in their household and not meet more than one person from another household at a time.Temperatures on Monday were expected to soar to 21C (69.8F) in Newcastle, 20C (68F) in Edinburgh and Belfast and 22C (71.6F) in Southampton.
The seafront in Brighton, Sussex, and at London’s Serpentine open water pool also saw large crowds today.
Under the new rules in England people can drive to leisure spots and meet one person outside their household, but have to follow social distancing.
Devon County Council had also asked people to “think twice” about visiting the coast and to consider if they could remain closer to home. The result has been individuals doing what suits them.
Increased Social Contact
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to reveal more details on allowing increased social contact and permitting non-essential shops to reopen as the Government readies to further ease the coronavirus lockdown.
The Government’s 50-page roadmap for exiting lockdown sets out that Phase 2 involves allowing “those who are isolated some more social contact” and opening non-essential shops to the public.
Phase 2 also includes “a phased return for early years settings and schools”, which Mr Johnson has confirmed will begin on June 1.nd it seems today is no different with highs of 25C tempting locals and those outside the borough to make the trip.
The seaside town has always been a popular destination for visiting tourists or local families on bank holidays, but officials have been warning day trippers to stay away due to the coronavirus crisis.
Under the new, relaxed rules we are allowed to sunbathe on beaches but we must only be with members of our household, and stay at least two metres away from others.Firm Air Fly Drone Solutions has been out getting aerial shots of the seafront as people came out to make the most of the sunny weather.
