Brexiteers will congregate in Parliament Square to celebrate the day the Uk officially leaves the EU. With a clock counting down to the moment the UK leaves the EU to be projected on to Downing Street, there are expected to be celebrations which could include music and dancing by those happy to see the back of the EU.
Nearby pubs are expected to be filled with revellers keen to make a celebration of the departure from the EU. Buildings along Whitehall will be lit up and Union flags line Parliament Square. A new 50p coin will come into circulation today as a mark of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
After over a year of political indecisiveness over the terms of Britain’s withdrawal from the EU, the eventual departure from the EU will be seen as progress for many politicians and commentators. British prime minister, Boris Johnson will describe today as a ”new dawn”.
Mr Johnson secured his deal through Parliament after a victorious December general election with a House of Commons majority of 80. His simple message was “get Brexit done”.He brought years of political dispute to an end. Opposition leader, Jeremy Corbyn Mr Corbyn,said the Uk was “at a crossroads”, saying his party would “hold the government to account every step of the way”.
