Boris Johnson’s conflicting  promises to Mps on Brexit questions his suitability  for the job.Johnson, who was three times ahead of his closest rival in the chase for the top job has been accused of providing contradictory statements about how he will lead the Uk out of Brexit, after Theresa May failed to achieve any consensus on the matter.

The Tory leadership front runner faces questions on his Brexit stance in a television debate for the first time in the campaign on Tuesday following allegations he is making promises he won ‘t keep. His supporters have been trying to get the former Foreign Secretary to commit to certain actions if he wants their support in his bid to become Britain’s next prime minister.

Johnson has promised his  Eurosceptic colleagues a more thorough rewriting of the withdrawal agreement which will be accompanied with added inflexible agreement of meeting an October deadline of leaving the EU by the end of October. Johnson’s backers do not want him to repeat the disorder that unfolded when Theresa May was forced to ditch her original promise of leaving The EU in March, this year. The problem this insistence can create is force Johnson to leave under any circumstances, no matter how bad, just to achieve the goal of having left by that deadline.

Johnson says on the one hand that a no-deal Brexit under his leadership will be very unlikely, but on the other hand has not committed to completely abandoning the withdrawal agreement drawn up between Theresa May and The EU. The aspiring Tory leader has also been accused of dodging press interviews that would closely examine his overall position. Johnson is also said to be presenting conflicting positions in relation to the HS2 rail project, claiming to some camps that he is in favour, whilst giving an opposite impression to others.

If the complaints made against Johnson are true, it means Parliament may be in a right state with no clarity on how it intends to handle Brexit.
