Klitschko has pulled out of his heavyweight showdown Tyson Fury, citing a torn tendon as the cause for the withdrawal. The withdrawal, only a couple of days after their last dramatic press conference in London, has just soured and quenched the anticipation of the fight. Only yesterday, Britain’s Tyson Fury had unleashed a barrage of insults against the heavyweight champion, when he came in first dressed as a batman character and told Klitschko he was going to rid boxing of a boring man like him, and then proceeded to liken the Charisma of the heavyweight champion to Fury’s own underpants. Fury also confidently stated he would need banning from the sport if he losses and would therefore retire. Is it possible this hugely expressed confidence of Fury has scared Klitschko off? Ofcourse, the champion has to be given the benefit of the doubt that a genuine injury has occured, but expect Fury to shout out at the mountain tops that Klitschko is avoiding him.
This is unfortunately for Fury, the second big money spinning fight that has eluded him. Haye was schedulled to fight the 6ft 9 inch behemoth 2 years ago but withdrew twice, citing an injured soldier. Fury has since accused Haye of being a bottle job in avoiding that fight, though most pundits believe Haye would have blasted out Fury had the fight taken place- a position the confident talking gypsy man and his training team vigorously dispute would have been the outcome. Fury lost out on £5m for that fight and has ever been scathing of Haye for pulling the plug on the fight. Now he has probably lost more money for this fight, and would be livid at that. Meanwhile, Haye tweeted ”seems Klitschko got hit with the ”Fury Injury curse” as well. Clearly, the boxing gods don’t feel Fury deserves that retirement cheque”
Fury will be furious at this withdrawal, though let’s hope he doesn’t breakdown over it. In fairness, the huge gipsy man had always claimed in the past that Klitschko would not fight him, so Fury may just have inadvertently used his words to talk the fight away, if words have any power. It is not the first time Klitschko has pulled out of title fights due to injury, so Fury may simply be out of luck. Or perhaps, Fury is right, and Klitschko is indeed beginning to psychologically crumble in fear that this uncontrollable young gun may snatch his belt. The latter scenario is unlikely so will hope to hear of a rescheduled date, and hopefully Fury will show his mettle by still fighting someone else. If Klitschko is truly scared of fighting Fury, he will have to retire. Meanwhile, David Haye tweeted: seems KLitschko got
