By James Simons-
Beleauguered rogue landlord, mr. Crow is to be hauled before the courts for an alleged breach of a court order following a conviction at Basildon Magistrates Court on September 3rd, 2018.
Crow is accused of breaching an order not to allow anybody besides his immediate family at his property, as part of a Criminal Behavioural Order notice served against him following a conviction in which he was fined £44,000. The 69 year old unpopular landlord also faces a court hearing for none payment of Council Tax the same day on February 20 at Southend Magistrates Court. The Council tax hearing begins at 10pm, whist the alleged breach of his criminal behavioural order commences at 11.30pm.
Crow has missed two of his last fine hearings in which the courts planned to hear how the broke landlord will pay his hefty £80,000 fine, but produced a medical certificate each time, citing diarrhea. A provisional arrest warrant requiring him to sign an undertaking to attend the next fines hearing on March 25 was made, which he signed. Neighbours at the conservative area in Devereux Road have complained bitterly to the Council about the nuisance behaviour of his residents, who they say have sometimes engaged in drunken and nuisance behaviour.
Crow is accused of having people at his property against the courts orders. He has six residents at the property in total at the moment, none of whom have paid rent for the past two months. He has kept them there in the hope that they would eventually find the money to pay him
In 2018, police were called to the address over 30 times, including a stabbing in which one of his former residents was remanded in prison for over 6 months. That case was eventually dropped when the victim failed to turn up to court, himself being on the run over offences of burglary and theft. He unwittingly rented the downstairs part of his property to drug dealers in 2018, leading to a police raid in which close to £1,000 was seized by police, but no drugs were found because they were disposed of by the dealers.
Some of Crow’s residents have accused him him of failing to handle internal disputes among other residents well by demonstrating weakness, and lacking decisive action.
A black lady living in his property recently accused a Russian national residing at the property of calling her an outright racist name and uttering sexually obscene words against her, which she said warranted an eviction. His behaviour was only met with a verbal warning by mr.Crow. She left the property after over about two months without paying a penny in rent. The man who shares the downstairs flat with his wife is a violent alcoholic and lives at the property rent free in exchange for work which other residents say does not make up for rent payments.
Residents of mr.Crow told The Eye Of Media last month that he had resorted to regular drinking over stress of the case, and threatened them with eviction notices a number of times late last year, but has never gone the extra mile to enforce it. He is believed to be estranged with some members of his family, whilst a few others like his daughter and his nephew , who are worried about his health and the prospect of jail have come to see him.
An angry mr.Crow told The Eye Of Media.Com : ”As far as I am concerned the court case in which the criminal behavioural order was made has been appealed, and that puts everything on hold. The Southend Council are in bed with Southend Magistrates Courts and are trying to put me in prison to take my property. This is a conspiracy, this is not justice”.
Asked why he still has not evicted none paying residents at his property, he fumed in a loud tone: ” I have asked them to leave, not because of the criminal behaviour order, but because they haven’t paid me any rent, but they won’t leave. They tell me I have to take them to court, but I haven’t got any money, and I should not have to take them to court because they are not tenants. So, what am I meant to do, physically throw them out? This is all a conspiracy”.
Crow refuses to take responsibility for his own actions, and has been told by at least two members of the team that he could seek assistance from the police if necessary. He has also been advised by this publication and his friends and family members to sell his property and move on, but the stubborn landlord is addicted to a property that has brought him nothing but problems. He may need to learn the ultimate lesson from the courts itself.
