BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg has accused the U.S president of loving to stir up controversies, after the U.S president’s direct attack on the U.K ambassador and Theresa May. Trump, is known for his brazen attack on senior political figures, including the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, whom he has attacked on several occasions, many times in response to unflattering comments Khan has made against the president.
The experienced political editor and analyst, the first woman to hold the position for the BBC, drew attention to what she described as the “tricky and sensitive” nature of the UK’s relationship with the U.S, and the challenge facing the Tory leadership hopefuls in dealing with a president “who seems to love stirring up controversy”.
“It’s Jeremy Hunt, normally seen as the more cautious of the two, who’s speaking much more plainly and directly to Donald Trump on the matter, while Boris Johnson has said only that he’s not embarrassed about being close to the White House,” she said. Controversial comments by the U.S president is nothing new, but does not present him in the best of lights as a president expected to know the boundaries of exercising his right to free speech as a world leader.
VENOM
Mr. Trump’s tweeter feed has become a platform for his expression of venemous attacks against anyone who acts against his wishes. May’s direct criticism against May for not following his directions on how to proceed with Brexit should make us wonder if he indeed has any advisers he listens to. Many critics have rebuked the president’s unwelcome intervention into the political affairs of the Uk, but some argue that the political relationship between the U.S and the U.k makes the precise path Brexit takes of automatic interest to mr.Trump .
However, this is not a valid reason for a sitting U.S president to openly criticise the political judgement of his British counterpart. His praise for MS May’s handling of Brexit during his visit to London can be seen as a sign that this president only says what suits him in the heat of the moment. Trump is a world leader who would want to be immune to criticism if he could, but yet readily makes controversial comments which he expects those on the receiving end to accept lying down.
Theresa May on the other hand has always handled criticism with dignity, defending herself when she finds it necessary, and other times leaving her spokesperson to speak on her behalf, or leaving the matter at hand for her critics to satisfy themselves.
Mr Trump’s comments on Monday that the US would “no longer deal” with Sir Kim, has been contradicted by the US State Department said it would continue “to deal with any accredited individuals until we get any further guidance from the White House or the president”.
“We have an incredibly special and strategic relationship with the United Kingdom that has gone on for quite a long time – it’s bigger than any individual or government,” the department added.
When a respected political editor like Laura Kuenssberg describes a leader as loving to stir controversy, those words from an intelligent and well respected woman carries a lot of weight. Weight supported by Jeremy Hunt’s
Mr Hunt responded to Mr Trump’s latest outburst by tweeting: “Friends speak frankly so I will: these comments are disrespectful and wrong to our prime minister and my country.”
The Tory leadership hopeful also said he would keep Sir Kim in his post until he retires at Christmas.

During a televised debate, Boris Johnson, the current Tory leadership frontrunner, was pushed on whether he would keep the ambassador, but said he “wouldn’t be so presumptuous” as to think he would be in a position to do that.
Mr Johnson said he had “a good relationship” with the White House and that it was important to have a “close partnership” with the US.

…handled. I told @theresa_may how to do that deal, but she went her own foolish way-was unable to get it done. A disaster! I don’t know the Ambassador but have been told he is a pompous fool. Tell him the USA now has the best Economy & Military anywhere in the World, by far…
