Former BBC DJ, Chris Denning has shamefully pleaded guilty to 21 child sex offences between 1969 and 1986.
Denning was arrested as part of a police inquiry into the Walton Hop Disco for teenagers in Walton on Thames, Surrey.
The 75 years old Londoner admitted abusing 11 boys as young as 8 years of age. Denning is currently serving a 13 year jail term for sexual assaults against 24 victims between the ages of 9 to 16.
He will be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court by the same judge who jailed him for those offences in 2014.
EMINENT
An eminent BBC presenter in the 60’s. He was instrumental in the launching of the careers of Bay City Rollers and Gary Glitter, and also ran his own music and video production business.
His arrest came in the wake of the grand scale sex abuse perpetrated by legendary pedophile, Jammy Saville after the late DJ’S death.
Jailed for 18 months in 1985 for gross indecency and indecent assault. Three years later, he received a three year sentence, for indecent assault and possession of indecent images.
Eight years later, the serial sex offender was handed a 10 week sentence for publishing indecent assault.
FRIGHTENING
It is frightening to think that serial offenders could be in high places in the BBC. However, it should not be so surprising that highly positioned people end up in this type of position considering the number of offenders that emerge from all sorts of professions.
How such a pervert survived in the midst of the BBC is unthinkable. We now know that in those days powerful celebrities at the BBC were untouchable, for fear if criticism or loss of post.
We must hope that old culture of fear has been completely stamped out, but can anyone bet on it? Only recently, a BBC female staff complained she was regularly flashed at by BBC DJ, Chris Evans. She claimed to have complained to authorities in vain.
An inquiry into her allegations was eventually dropped, when she felt isolated and loss the courage to proceed with the case as nobody to corroborate her claim.
