The WBC have said a hearing will take place about Deontey Wilder’s comments after the WBC expressed a strong desire to kill Dominic Brezeale in the ring for the defence of a title he has held for four years. Maurice Sulemain said in a statement.
“I have seen Deontay Wilder comments which are regrettable and completely against the spirit of our sport. I have known Wilder for a long time and he is not the person he portrays in such comments. His metaphors are against the WBC code of ethics and will be addressed in a hearing. The announcement comes after The Eye Of Media.Com highlighted criticisms behind the scenes about the WBC’s silence about Wilder’s comments which has outraged many observers and fans.
Wilder might not the person Sulemain recognises, but the Brown Bomber has told us many times that he has two sides to him. The WBC president doesn’t know the inner deeper side of Wilder the bomber who has this mean devastating knockout mentality when ready for a fight against a man he has very strong resentment for. He has knocked out 39 of his 41 opponents, so the power in his right hand is one to respect until someone walks through it and actually beats him. Criticisms had been flying in boxing circles since Wilder’s first expressed his burning anger for Brezeale. The WBC king has remained defiant in the face of strong disapproval for his words.
He said:
”I speak my piece. This is a sport where we sign up with. This is the sport that I signed up to do. I risk my life in that ring. So as me, as an individual, to risk my life for other’s entertainment, I can say whatever I please. I’m doing this for other’s entertainment. People can take my words as what they want. If they don’t like it, don’t watch it. But nothing I said that ain’t true, nothing I said that hasn’t been said before. So why people wanna take it into consideration now”?
Wilder is right about risking his life in the ring just like other boxers do. His words stresses the ultimate risk faced by his opponent occurring against a dangerous man like him. The aggressive and explosive world heavyweight champion may be putting fear into his rival, and it could work or backfire. Athletic Wilder sounds so serious that it is impossible to know how serious he is about killing his opponent.
He speaks with so much confidence that there can be no doubt he is not bothered about how it could get Brezeale fired up for tomorrow’s fight. He intends to do serious damage against Brezeale. Brezeale speaks dismissively of Wilder’s skills, but only Tyson Fury of all his opponents has never been knocked out. Wilder continued to look cocky and super confident at the weigh in today. If as expected he knocks out his opponent tomorrow night, the WBC can only urge him not to repeat such harsh words. Brezeale fighting spirit will have to be in action tomorrow after all the strong words from Wilder. Which is why Wilder will look all the more a scary champion on Sunday morning if he delivers the brutal knock out he promises and not allow Brezeale embarrass him .
