Music legend, Adele, is embroiled in a row about plagiarism in relation to one of her acclaimed tracks” Million years ago”. The 25 year old who has wooed the world and the music industry with her jaw breaking album 25 is accused of taking man of the contents of the million years track from the lyrics of a Kurdish Turkish singer, Ahmet Kaya, who in 1985 released a song ‘Acilara Tutunmak (interpreted clinging to pain).

The record breaking award winning singer who received the Brit Awards critics choice in 2007 and won the BBC sound of awards the following year in 2008 is an international phenomenon and has a multitude of fans all over the world, is a symbol of extra ordinary beauty and success, and also known to be a big personality who thinks the world of herself . The 25 year old is yet to comment about the latest allegations which could escalate into a legal row if not dealt with at this early stage.

And in the past 24 hours, Social media sites in Turkey have been buzzing with claims that the 27-year-old British singer had ripped off the song from Kaya, who died in November 2000. Adele has stolen from us,” Esra Nur Aydogan wrote on Twitter.

The late Kaya whose intellectual property has become the subject of this internet dispute was a famous Kurdish singer from Malatya in Turkey, who died in November 2000 as an exile in Paris. He was an outcast in Turkey, despite releasing tracks in both Turkish and Kurdish, having identified as a Kurd of Turkey.
One YouTube user concluded however: “Both are generic as f*ck, there are literally hundreds other songs that sound just like that.”

Adele has stolen from us,” Esra Nur Aydogan wrote on Twitter.

Only recently, well known rapper, Jay Z, was cleared by US judge, Christina Synder after a weeks testimony defending allegations that he was liable for an uncleared sample that help make up his list. We hope for her sake and that of her fans, that Adele does not have to go through a similar court process before clearing her name.
