Dubois, 26,  secured an impressive victory, stopping  unbeaten Hygovic in the eighth round of a thrilling encounter for their IBF ‘interim’ title fight.

Both men through caution to the wind, with Dubois being the more proactive, demonstrating a strong will to penetrate the opposition presented by his more tactical opponent who was very gamely throughout the duration of the fight, until the action packed contest was stopped following the advise of the ringside doctor.

There were gaping flaws in the tenacious display of ferocity by Dubois, who nevertheless focus on the brutal objective of victory on which he embarked. His jab was often none existent, leaving him open to counter attacks from Hygovic who appeared to be technically superior, but not as fit as Dubois for the high tempo contest that transpired.

Joshua, a two-time unified world champion, is currently on a four-fight winning streak. After suffering consecutive losses to Usyk, would be a solid test for Dubois. The former two time world heavyweight champion  has made a remarkable comeback, achieving three stoppages in his last four victories, the most recent being his remarkable two round demolition of former MMA fighter, Francis Ngannou.

Joshua’s resurgence has reignited his career and set the stage for a potential clash with Dubois.

Prior to Joshua’s disposal of Ngannou, his tentative approach would have made his easily vulnerable to the eager attacking style of Dubois.

But his newly found confidence evident in the assertive manner he dispatched of Ngannou may provide some indication that Dubois likely has a tough assignment in going up against Joshua who is building some momentum in his quest to regain the title he once had.

It will be a big fight, once officially announced.
