Former BBC presenter, Andrew Neil, is on the hot seat after he challenged Meghan Markle to get her story straight, and admitted he’d love to have Piers Morgan on his new channel GB News, following his Good Morning Britain exit.
The 72 year old showed no sensitivity to Meghan’s moving and shocking account of mental health issues and ill treatment , instead appeared to join forces with Piers Morgan in attacking the credibility of Meghan Markle’s account. Mr. Neil he’d be a “huge asset.”

Andrew Neil is the chairman of television company of GB News, is an accomplished broadcaster, who was also appointed editor of The Sunday Times by Rupert Murdoch. The chief executive and editor-in-chief of Press Holdings Media Group/ He is a big shot in the media industry, though with not the same high profile as Piers Morgan who was live on air every morning.
Mr Neil’s criticism of Meghan’s Markles’s account of events, as allegedly being contradicting positions in her interview with Oprah Winfrey, has been flagged up as expressing support for the television star who stepped down from Good Morning Britain. And in the current climate, it is an issue.
Earlier today, Sharon Osborne humbly apologised for her public support of Piers Morgan, but Andrew Neil, was quick to cash in on the fall out, announcing plans to take hire Piers Morgan, attacking the credibility of Meghan Markle’s account, in order to show his support for Piers Morgan.
Disputing Meghan’s account. Mr Neil said: “If they do want to go down that road, it’s their choice, then they’ll have to be a lot more specific than they have been to Oprah Winfrey about what actually happened.
“If you take the case of raising what the colour of what the baby would be, first of all they’d need to get their story straight.
“Both Harry and Meghan had different stories. Meghan had said that it had been raised with her several times, then of course it wasn’t. Harry said that it had been raised with him once, at a different time from Meghan.
“We’d need to know who raised it, what was the context, what was exactly said. So maybe when you think of that, maybe both the California branch of the Royal Family and Buckingham Palace branch of the Royal Family may have a vested interest in resolving it behind closed doors.”
Endorsement
Mr Neil’s scepticism of Meghan’s account has been viewed to amount to his endorsement of Piers Morgan’s position on Meghan, making him open to a similar level of criticism as Morgan, though not quite as much since he did not categorically dismiss Meghan’s account mental health. However, by lending support to Piers Morgan in the way he did, while attacking Meghan at the same time, has put him right in the got seat of criticism.

Sheila Mckenzie, a business woman and regular contributor to the publication, said:
”It is surprising how reckless highly established individuals can be even when dealing with a serious and sensitive issue.
If Andrew Neil watched the whole interview, and does not understand the serious, complex, and sensitive issues involved, his suitability to host broadcasting programmes needs to be closely examined .
It is fair to say that there is nothing wrong in journalists examining aspects of Meghan’s accounts, and asking questions. What is not fair is to dismissing at out of hand, an account from a woman who claims to have been suicidal, in circumstances she was unprepared for, is unacceptable”.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey attracted a lot of sympathy for her in America and The U.S, and in The UK, but there are more people in the UK who are angry with the couple for the damaging revelations they made in the interview with Oprah Winfrey, some or all of which will need to be refuted , if the lasting impact of the interview is to be even altered a little bit.
Support
Former social worker and business analyst, Hortensia Daniels, told The Eye Of Media.Com: ”Considering the fact Morgan had to step down due to his reckless attitude in dismissing Meghan’s account of mental health account, anybody supporting his actions, is somewhat guilty of the same offence.
Andrew Neil’s behaviour is tantamount to him endorsing Piers’s behaviour.
He is trying to discredit a woman whose testimony of mental health, speaks for itself. The only thing is that Andrew Neil is focusing of Meghan’s account of her alleged experience of racism expressed against her unborn child, while Piers Morgan was dismissing her whole account, which included mental health issues.
Mr Neil is allowed to question the context in which the comment was made of how dark Harry’s child might be , but the problem here is that he is doing so to support Piers Morgan, who had to step down, This makes it a problem in principle”.
We must remember that Piers Morgan maintained his stance after he stepped down when questioned by journalists. He arrogantly said I’ll be back”.
It shouldn’t be so easy for him to be back, unless racism and mental health issues don’t matter.
The offer of a broadcasting job to Piers Morgan, without requiring an acknowledgement from Piers about his conduct could make Andrew Neil complicit in Piers Morgan’s misbehaviour”, Angela, said It would question Andrew Neil’s suitability to host a programme himself, if he is insensitive to complaints of mental health issues.
We should be waiting for Andrew Neil to start his programme to tackle him on. Ofcom may have to assess his suitability to do the job, when the time comes”.
