Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Is World Richest Man With $197m Fortune

The founder and CEO of online retailer Amazon, has become the wealthiest person of all time, after  a fortune of $197.8 billion (£149.25 billion) was revealed yesterday.

Stinking rich Jeff Bezos has attained the highest wealth Forbes has ever recorded during their over three decades of tracking the wealth of billionaires.

Amazon’s stock was the best-performing listing on the S&P 500 on Tuesday, seeing a total gain of 4.1 percent, increasing Bezo’s wealth by $7.2 billion (£5.43 billion) in a single day, since he owns just over 11 percent of the company.

Amazon now has altogether amassed a market capitalisation of $1.66 trillion – let’s give up on the conversions to pounds here, and just say that it’s a lot of money, eclipsing the world’s second richest man,  Bill Gates.

Bezos ex wife, MacKenzie Scott, received a quarter of Bezos’ Amazon stake in part of their huge divorce settlement last year, meaning that she increased her net worth by $2 billion yesterday, making her the third richest woman in the world, with a fortune of $62.7 billion.

Scott claims to have given close to $1.7 billion to 116 different not-for-profit organisations across the United States of America.

Forbes placed Elon Musk in fourth place, behind Gates and Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is Elon Musk.

Musk enjoyed a big day yesterday after generating  $7.8 billion from shares in his electric car company Tesla which  rose by 11 percent.

The supermarket chain has enjoyed a close relationship with the web company after it started wholesaling fresh, chilled and frozen food to Amazon in 2016, before a same-day delivery service was then launched on the Prime app for subscribers.

Today, Morrisons launched a dedicated platform for its products on Amazon.co.uk, attracting millions more customers who can buy items p directly from its supermarket stores, rather than being restricted to a warehouse.

The scheme in the Uk will first commence in Leeds, West Yorkshire, w allowing all customers who use the Amazon website to buy groceries using the ‘Morrisons on Amazon’ shop.

Through the partnership, Amazon Prime customers will still be able to receive free same-day deliveries on orders over £40.
