A Controversial far-right group called National Action, have cancelled an originally planned ‘White Man’ March through the streets of Liverpool scheduled for earlier today.
Up to 150 supporters from Russia, France and Germany had planned to attend the march, which was set to pass directly though the main shopping area Liverpool. Such a march had the potential to cause friction, because protests with unrealistic aims based on race can be provocative and lead to clashes with minority groups, especially street delinquents who may have seized the opportunity to use the protests as an outlet to action their own issues.
The racist group even went as far as writing to Mayor Joe Anderson, promising “a National Action-packed weekend of ethnically-enriched chaos and mayhem” if their planned march was not allowed to go ahead. It is believed the cancellation came after Anti-Fascist Network (AFN), Britain’s largest anti-fascist organisation, held their own march through Liverpool to protest against National Action’s rally. They had told the racist group to bring facemasks, and a heavy duty sunglasses, and a heavy duty belt with heavy belt buckles with them” The AFN are to be credited for their prompt steps of action to counter the ill willed and ultimately failed plans of the racist group.
Bottles and eggs were thrown in the face of suspected neo- nazi activists, as the anti fascists chanted out ”Master race, you are having a laugh” Announcements alerting the protesters to the presence of scared children in the vicinity seemed to go unnoticed and did not seem to stem the tension. Six arrests were made by Mersey side police, and a man sustained nasty facial injuries. Photographers were stirred away from photographing the injured man.
Chief Inspector Chris Gibson said: “We worked with partners to ensure minimum disruption to businesses and residents and we’d like to thank the public for their patience while these marches were on-going in the city.
“The force recognises the right of people to demonstrate peacefully and express their views but the force will not tolerate disorder anti-social behaviour during any demonstrations in Merseyside.”
White supremacist group National Action had previously appeared to threaten that Liverpool “will go up in flames” if its march was banned.
A letter claiming to be from the group was sent to Mayor Anderson that said: “God help you and your Liverpool vision if you interfere with our God given right of public expression and freedom of speech. We look forward to a National Action-packed weekend of ethnically-enriched chaos and mayhem.”
National Action has since denied it was responsible for the letter, blaming it on an “agent provocateur”.
The “White Man March” was allowed to go ahead with police stating that, due to the Human Rights Act 1998, the force is obliged to facilitate peaceful protest. But in the face of huge opposition the march was cancelled, with police confirming the organisers themselves had taken that decision. The application of the Human Rights Acts here in allowing racist people express their views is wrong! It should not be allowed-period! They don’t allow Islam fanatics to express their views, but they think it is alright for racists to do so on a public platform.
RIDICULOUS
It is absolutely ridiculous that in this day and age, there are still groups that fantasise about an ‘all white’ Britain, because such dreams are similar to the imaginary all muslim world envisaged by Islamic fundamentalists all over the world. The author of the letter should have been told off by the Mayor and openly exposed to show that racism will never be tolerated in a civil and decent society. As a decent white male of this great country, it offends me every time I encounter a black person use the race card when they are criticised or confronted for a wrong deed they have committed. It is not uncommon for them to conclude the reason for the confrontation or criticism to be a question of race when in actual fact the particular individual may have behaved in an unsavoury or inappropriate manner worthy of rebuke. However, racists groups like the National action group or the racists Chelsea fans that embarrassed British football in Paris when they pushed a black man off the train and chanted ”we are racists” , only serve to perpetuate the misconception that there are still a lot of racists in this country.
Yes, there are a number of racists in England but they constitute a small number of the whole who actually think superiority can be based on the colour of a person’s skin or that they have more of a right in this country because of their colour. Eye of Media’s Ben Kerrigan pointed out in one of his political articles alluding to the issue of racial discrimination that many English people are descendants of people from foreign countries, and their ancestors are not from Britain, contrary to popular thinking. In this light, we must learn to quality in our differences, and treat people exactly how we want to be treated ourselves. Individuals and organisations that propagate the notion of segregation and exhibit racially charged undertones are the greatest fools that walked this country. This country can do without such people! The National Action group is made up of racists and neo-Nazis.
