Abbas Khan, a teenage tear away, has been jailed for 14 years, after shooting his victim during a road race.
The 19-year-old hot-tempered northerner disabled his victim when a man with whom he had a road rage incident returned with backup.
The pair had confronted each other at George Arthur road, Alec rock on August 15 last year, but initially limited their disagreement to pushing and shoving. Neither of the men appears to have displayed enough confidence to actually spark a physical fight, but his victim, Taher went away to recruit solid backup to take care of Khan.
Unknown to Taher, Khan was not about to take any chances of losing the conflict under any circumstances. Khan returned with a loaded short gun and blasted Taher, who tried to run after begging his attacker not to shoot, Birmingham Crown court heard.
Taher was rushed to the hospital and lucky to survive the attack. However, he appears to be permanently disabled as a result of the attack and lives in fear of reprisals as a result of the court case, his lawyer told the court.
APPALLED
The appalled judge told Khan he is clearly a danger to society, having noted that his victim was unarmed and begged to be spared before attempting to escape the scene. In addition to the 14 years jail sentence, the judge imposed an extra 4 years on Khan’ s license when he comes out of jail.
The level of violence was too severe for a dispute that just started on the day with no previous history but shows the various types of madness out there
An associate of Khan told the eye of media.com ” Khan has his very good points, but when he looses it he doesn’t take any sxxx”.
“He is a bad boy through and through, no messing with him. He may appear like he is just crazy, but even with random road rage it is also about what the other person says to you, how they talk to you”.
If someone is telling you they know your face, and acting all bad, some people just loose it and feel they should go hard. Violence is obviously not the best answer, but it is what it is”.
Birmingham has become very notorious for gun crime, with several gangs in the cities and urban areas influencing a fatal mentality of extreme bloodshed in one of Britain’s main cities.
STRUGGLE
The town also has one of the best secondary schools in the country, but many children from poorer backgrounds without the right work ethics are struggled to get into those best schools. Also, many of those who get in sometimes get caught up in the street hype of gang subculture for different reasons.
