By Samantha Jones–

A Canadian man accused of supplying lethal substances linked to dozens of deaths across England and Wales has formally admitted his role in one of the most disturbing international criminal cases in recent years.

Kenneth Law today pleaded guilty in Canada to 14 counts of aiding and abetting suicide, following a coordinated agreement between the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the National Crime Agency (NCA), and Canadian authorities.

In a landmark development, all 73 victims from England and Wales who died after allegedly using products supplied by Law have now been officially recognised and named as part of the Canadian court proceedings.

Prosecutors confirmed that the Canadian court will sentence Law on the basis that he knowingly distributed lethal products internationally, fully aware they were likely to be used to end lives.

The case has sent shockwaves through law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Atlantic, exposing the devastating global reach of online suicide networks and illegal supply operations.

Jo Jakymec, Chief Crown Prosecutor for SEOCID International London and South East Division, described the decision as a difficult but necessary path to justice.

“A prosecution in England and Wales following extradition carried significant risk and was far from certain,” she said.

“By working with Canadian authorities, we have secured an outcome that recognises our victims here and ensures Kenneth Law is held accountable.

“This was not a decision taken lightly, but it is the approach that best delivers justice while avoiding the real risk that the harm caused in England and Wales would never have been recognised in any court.”

She added that while no legal process could erase the suffering endured by victims and their families, the proceedings ensure the full scale of the offending is now formally acknowledged and will be reflected during sentencing.

The investigation has been described by officials as unprecedented in both scale and complexity, involving every police force across England and Wales, alongside extensive international cooperation with Canadian partners.

Authorities said the final decision on how to proceed was made jointly by the CPS and the NCA after careful consideration of all available legal options.

The sentencing hearing in Canada is expected to draw global attention as families continue seeking answers and accountability in a case that has highlighted the deadly dangers of online access to lethal substances.
