A British woman has claimed not to have been aware she was raped by Andrew Tate(pictured) 10 years ago, despite being 20 at the time.
The woman, who has understandably been granted anonymity by BBC Newsnight, alleges the social media influencer choked her until she lost consciousness while they were having sex, and then subjected her to threatening behaviour.
The woman, who was 20 at the time, told BBC Newsnight that consensual sex turned violent when Mr Tate choked her and when she woke up, he was still having sex with her, adding: “I didn’t consent to it”.
Tate has been accused of rape by multiple women, but no charges have of yet been brought against him. The number of allegations against him remain a tarnish on his reputation nonetheless.
The social media influencer was unimpressive in a recent BBC interview in which he continuously engaged his interviewer in a tense attack , shifting the topic to the BBC’s handling of Jimmy Saville, rather than convincingly explaining why he was being accused of rape by multiple women.
In the absence of solid evidence, an individual accused in innocent until proven guilty in law, but practise the public are aware that not every criminal offence has the necessary evidence to support a prosecution.
The misogynist and his brother Tristan were released from prison over allegations of human trafficking and rape, but have since been released under house arrest after a decision to deny them bail was overturned by the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
The now shamed former influencer released an “unredacted” version of his almost 40-minute long interview and claimed in the opening that the BBC attempted a “hit job”.
Tate claimed on twitter that the BBC had been “begging” him for an interview “daily” since he left jail and “then they sat down, threw all of this away and attacked me instantly, an ambush.” He further accused the BBC of inventing his accuser, stating that she had not filed any criminal allegations against him.
However, his interviewer indicated she had been emotionally manipulated.
Legal experts say that consent is an ongoing process that can be withdrawn at any point.
”It is not uncommon for survivors of sexual assault to initially struggle to label their experiences as rape due to societal misconceptions or self-blame, Fabian Nworah, who sits on The Eye Of Media’s thinktank said of this allegation.
”In cases where a woman initially believes she consented to sex but later realizes she was raped, it can be a traumatic and confusing realization. The emotional impact of discovering that one’s autonomy and bodily integrity were violated can be devastating.
”When a woman claims to have initially consented to sex but later realizes she was raped, some may question her credibility, believing she is changing her story or making false accusations. This scepticism can exacerbate the trauma and discourage survivors from seeking the support they need”
”Legally, the burden of proving lack of consent falls on the prosecution. When a woman initially believes she consented but later discovers she was raped, it can be challenging to gather evidence or establish the absence of consent beyond a reasonable doubt. This can lead to difficulties in pursuing legal recourse and holding the perpetrator accountable.
” Consent should always be enthusiastic, informed, and ongoing”, he said.
Tate, who was banned from twitter towards the end of October 2017 after posting inflammatory tweets is believed to have gained dover 6 .4million followers ever since his account was re-instated in what many consider to be have bene poor judgement on the part of Elon Musk
In a now-deleted post, the widely despised British born U.S citizen said: “Next point, if you put yourself in a position to be raped, you must bare some responsibility. I’m not saying it’s OK you got raped.”
Tate’s despicable comments make him a man to be avoided by women like the plague.
