Tyson Fury has upped the his rhetoric ahead of his second defence of the Wbc title which he took from Deontey Wilder in October, 2021.
The gypsy king ridiculed Dillian Whyte by revealing he used him as a “punching bag” in their sparring sessions.
The pair will meet for their heavyweight clash at Wembley on April 23, giving the Londoner his long awaited shot at a heavyweight title.
Instead of having Deontey Wilder at the other end of the ring. tough Dillian Whyte will see the unbeaten giant, Tyson Fury, standing and waiting confidently to defend his title successfully.
Fury is confident that the outcome of sparring sessions against Dillian Whyte will be no different from fight night. Tyson Fury claims Dillian Whyte sparring was stopped after he used rival “as a punchbag”
“I’ve sparred Dillian Whyte many, many times. And every single time I used him as a punching bag. There were times when he couldn’t defend himself and there was a time where we had to stop the sparring and Hughie had to spar him, my cousin Hughie instead.
“How many times have you seen people in the gym get absolutely busted up and then on fight night they boxed like Sugar Ray Leonard?”
Britain’s heavyweight world champion, 33, last week he will call it a day after the defence of his WBC title against Dillian Whyte in April- a decision that won’t go down well with British fans and many boxing pundits who were hoping Fury would seek to unify the heavyweight tile belts and leave a lasting legacy.
Fury was expected to pursue an all-British clash against the winner of Anthony Joshua, and Ukrainian, Olegsander Usyk in a rematch for the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts.
Leaving the boxing scene without unifying the titles will rob Fury of the opportunity to have claimed all the belts and proved to be the best heavyweight boxer in the world, though he is rated no 1 and will stay that way if he beats Dillian Whyte and retires after that. The problem is that Usyk will also have that claim, leaving Fury established WBC champion who defended the title twice.
The ‘Gypsy King’ se comeback after health issues to become world champion for a second time. He currently holds the WBC to heavyweight boxing has been a remarkable experience for him and sports fans.
In Dillian Whyte will be a tough opponent for Fury, but the world champion has shown that it will take someone with something fairly special to beat him. Whyte has only lost twice to Anthony Joshua and Alexander Putin, but avenged the loss to Putin. The South Londoner can be a handful, but will have many inches of height and reach to overcome in Tyson Fury.
Fury has confirmed he has received offers from film directors to make a movie about his life and boxing career, but is yet to decide on his next move after boxing.
