Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor has pleaded guilty to one charge of assault after an altercation in a Dublin pub in April.
The 31-year-old was convicted and fined 1,000 euros (£861) on Friday following the guilty plea.
Footage of the incident released in August showed McGregor punching Desmond Keogh in the head at the Marble Arch pub in Drimnagh, south of the centre. The fighter had been promoting his own brand of whiskey at the pub when the altercation took place on 6 April. The court heard that Mr Keogh was drinking in the pub at around 2.30pm when McGregor and the men, who are believed to be his security staff, entered and spoke to a number of others sitting beside Mr Keogh.
The fighter had produced a glass to offer some of the customers including mr. Keogh a drink, but mr. Keogh declined. Offended by the rebuff, McGreggor he slammed the glass in front of mr Keorr and after being escorted away, he came and punched him in the face.
Only a month ago, bad boy Mcgreggor was arrested after he allegedly smashed a fan’s phone in Miami, but all charges were eventually dropped.
