Wilder’s Daughter Undergoes Challenging 9 Hour Hospital Surgery

By Gabriel Princewill-

Deontey Wilder’s eldest daughter Naieya underwent a challenging 9 hour surgery on both her legs, just three  days after she witnessed her father lose his WBC title to Tyson Fury in Las vegas .

15 year old Naieya was  at operated on at the children’s of Alabama hospital in Oklahoma from Tuesday evening right through until Wednesday  where she remained in recuperation with her mother , Helen Duncan. The operation required doctors to cut her femur, her metacarpals, tibia and fiba to help her to walk  better and more straight,  keeping her from couching, the Eye Of Media.Com can reveal. This is her 6th surgery in hospital.

Her father, former formidable world heavyweight boxing champion, Deontey Wilder, was not present at the hospital, given his own recuperation from the fight in Las Vegas.

Naieya who was born with Spina Bifida was the original inspiration for big punching heavyweight  Deontey Wilder to pursue a career in boxing, culminating in a bronze medal at the  2008 Beijing Olympic games before becoming  WBC champion, and defending the belt an impressive 10 times. He has since won 42 fights from(41 knockouts) 44 with one draw and  the one loss to Britain’s Tyson Fury.

The mother of his daughter, Helen Duncan, said doctors later discovered Naieya had Osgood Schlatter disease – an inflammation of the patellar ligament at the tibial tuberosity (apophysitis). The disease is characterised by a painful bump just below the knee that is worse with activity and better with rest. Episodes of pain typically last a few weeks to months.

Duncan told The Eye Of Media.Com: ”My daughter  was born with club feet after three surgeries on her feet they still were turnt . She still was walking on her heel instead of her feet.

”She is running fever, bleeding, and having spasms on her legs. I am the only parent here at the moment and trying to stay strong for my daughter. She is having complications”.
