WAYNE ROONEY’S TASTELESS CLASH WITH WRESTLER BARRETT

BY ERIC KING

Man United player, Wayne Rooney, clashed with Wrestling fighter Wade Barrett yesterday, after the fighter went hunting for Rooney who had slapped him in the face. Captain Rooney was in the audience for the World Wrestling Entertainment(WWE), and the aggrieved wrestler went in search for him. And the 35 year old wrestler had warned that Rooney’s days were numbered and then paid a visit to United’s old trafford to find Rooney.

After a war of words between the pair, Wade Barrett, known as King Barrett, poked Rooney in the chest, and Rooney slapped the giant wrestler in the face. The slap landed accurately, with many taking to twitter to say it was the most accurate target Rooney had made all season. Rooney, who is also a player for the national English team thas struggled to make a strong impression on the pitch for a lot of the season, despite scoring a few goals here and there.

The feud between the pair dates back nine months when British wrestler Barrett accused Rooney on Twitter of diving to win a penalty in an FA Cup win against Preston North End and challenging him to wrestling match. Seeing the striker in the front row with his son Kai at WWE Raw seemingly provided his perfect opportunity for revenge, though violence, especially in front of young children, is never right or justifiable.
Barrett began goading Rooney and offered him a fight in the ring – before adding that he did not want to embarrass the striker in front of his son, saying that he experiences that “every time you step on a football pitch”.

Rooney did not help matters when he later taunted Irish wrestler, Sheamus during his fight with Antonio Cesaro, which prompted Barrett to confront him and tell him to mind his business, then poked him in the chest. Rooney was brave to then slap Barrett in the face, who fell to the ground in a somewhat comical fashion, ostensibly to make the occasion as amusing as possible for the crowd. It may have been entertaining stuff, but a bit more maturity from both so called stars would do them a whole more good.
