Preparing for the UK Weather Warning

Strong winds can lead to significant disruption, especially during the Monday morning commute. Sky News weather producer Joanna Robinson noted that local power cuts are also a possibility. The winds are expected to ease as the low-pressure system responsible for the weather moves away.

The Met Office has advised people to prepare for potential disruption. This includes checking road conditions before driving and adjusting travel plans as needed. Authorities also recommend having essential items on hand, such as torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power bank, in case of power cuts.

The spell of strong winds and heavy rain began with an area of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic. This system caused heavy rain to spread northeastwards on Sunday. The wind is forecast to pick up from the southwest on Sunday evening, bringing the risk of gales overnight and into Monday.
