Tyson Fury And Deontey Wilder To Earn £19m For Big Title Fight

By Tim Parsons

Fury and Deontay Wilder will each earn £19.4m from this weekend’s fight after pay per view ticket sales.

The pair clash for the biggest heavyweight fight in probably the last two decades. Tyson Fury is unbeaten in 30 fights and Deontey Wilder is unbeaten in 43 fights.  Their first fight ended in a draw after Fury climbed off the canvas twice in a fight  he was winning on points. This time, the unbeaten Brit is determined to stop Wilder to secure the victory after forming the view that he won’t get the decision in America.

Fury has presented no objections to the appointment of three American judges for the contest  because of his determination to stop Wilder. The giant heavyweight, widely considered the best boxer in the heavyweight division today will come in with about a three stone advantage which he believes will give him the edge he needs with his boxing ability to eventually grab the WBC belt.

A five-fight contract with ESPN and Top Rank  estimated to be worth £80m has brought him this far. In his last fight, Fury succeeded in overcoming dangerous cuts to his face inflicted by Otto Wallin, an unknown quantity with an unbeaten record who was tough and tried to upset the odds. It has attracted so much interest , temporarily replacing the long wait to see Anthony Joshua and Deontey Wilder meet in the ring.

Former undisputed world heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, told Sky Sports that both Fury and Wilder are no 1 and 2. He said the American is currently no 1 because of the way he has dispatched his last two opponents, indicating that this fight will confirm who the no 1 and no 2 is.

“Right now the top man is Deontay because of how he looked in his last two fights,” Lewis told Sky Sports News

Both of these guys [Wilder and Fury] are number one and number two. Arguably, number one and number two – it can be switched either way”. On Saturday they get the chance to prove to the world who is number one and who is number two.”

Anthony Joshua currently holds three of the main heavyweight belts, but went down in rating after he was bashed up by Andy Ruiz in their first Newyork bout last June. Joshua won the rematch on points, leaving fans with mixed feelings about the manner of his win.  Fury’s team are already eyeing a fight this year with Anthony Joshua for his three belts, but will need to first go past Wilder. This is a close fight to call but a realistic outcome is for Fury to win on points. The second round KO prediction is a smokescreen.
