The 55-year-old artist, who the jury acquitted of the most severe sex trafficking and racketeering charges, still faces up to 20 years in prison for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

His legal team has requested a sentence of no more than 14 months, which could lead to his immediate release given the time he has already served.

He opened the communication by taking “full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs,” writing that the two years since his legal issues began have been the hardest period of his life.

Combs insisted he has “no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself.”

He directly apologised for assaulting his former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura in 2016, an attack captured on hotel surveillance footage shown repeatedly during his trial.

The entrepreneur stressed that his domestic violence will always remain a heavy burden he must forever carry.

Combs outlined a narrative of personal transformation to the judge, asserting his lengthy incarceration has fundamentally changed him.

He claimed that he is now sober for the first time in twenty-five years, having previously been “lost in the drugs and the excess.”

The convicted star emphatically wrote that his pain became his teacher and his sadness was his sole motivator during his difficult time behind bars.

“The old me died in jail, and a new version of me was reborn,” Combs penned in the letter to Judge Subramanian.

He detailed how he spends his days reading, writing, attending therapy, and even teaching fellow inmates a business course called “Free Game.”

Asking the court to “make me an example of what a person can do if afforded a second chance,” the former music mogul pledged that he would never commit a crime again.

This request for leniency is being heavily scrutinized by both the prosecution and the victims

Casandra Ventura, who testified under difficult circumstances while heavily pregnant, submitted a powerful statement dismissing her ex-boyfriend’s claims of remorse.

She stated unequivocally that the manipulator, aggressor, and abuser he was to her is exactly who he is as a human being.

Ventura argued that Combs has no genuine interest in changing or becoming better, believing he will always remain the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man.

She urged the judge to issue a sentence reflecting the strength it took for his victims to come forward with their difficult testimonies.

Another woman, who testified under the pseudonym “Jane,” is also expected to speak at the sentencing, alongside a former assistant.

Prosecutors, meanwhile, continue to push for an 11-year sentence, arguing that the rapper remains unrepentant despite his claims of transformation.

The Family Plea and Sentencing Outlook

A substantial portion of the convicted artist’s letter focused on the toll his absence has taken on his family, particularly his seven children and his 84-year-old mother, Janice.

He detailed missing multiple graduations and the critical developmental period of his two-year-old daughter.

Combs told the judge that he no longer cares about the money or the fame, stating that his family is the single most important thing to him.

Sentencing guidelines and the prosecution’s strong recommendation for more than a decade in prison mean Judge Subramanian has a challenging decision ahead.

Sean Combs pleads for mercy hoping to use his incarceration time as credit for immediate release; however, the judge has already denied his bail multiple times, citing a history of violence.
