RNLI Calls On Uk Beach Goers To Adhere To Social Distancing

By James Simons-

The Royal National Live boat Institution (RNLI) has called on beach goers in the Uk to follow water safety advice, and adhere to social distancing.

Large congregations on Uk beaches shortly after the lockdown ease in May attracted criticism from all quarters who urged beach goers to be cautious and avoid visiting crowded beaches. Brighton, Bournemoth and Southend beaches were overflowing with people for consecutive weekends during the early stages of the lockdown ease.

The  charity which rescued 30 individuals in one day on just one beach in Cornwall has appealed to the British public to exercise extra care this hot weekend and avoid mixing too closely with people, given the coronavirus.

Today is set to be the hottest day in British history today as  temperatures soar  to 39C, beating the previous hottest day on record which saw Brits roast in 38.7C in Cambridge on 25 July last year.

Forecasters say the UK will be hotter than Barbados and Egypt.

Brian Gaze, a forecaster at The Weather Outlook, said: “This heatwave is like a blowtorch that will scorch across much of the country.
“It’s going to be a glorious weekend.”

Tman of the RNLI has urged Brits to keep away from packed beaches.

She said: “The beaches across the whole of the south west are extremely busy at the moment with both locals who are holidaying at home this year and an influx of visitors to the region.

“The sheer volume of people making social distancing tricky is one thing to be conscious of before planning your trip to the beach.

“You might choose to visit the beach at a quieter time of day, or choose a beach with more space, where you can still bathe between the flagged area, but spread out further when setting up camp for the day.

“If you arrive at the beach and it is simply too crowded, consider moving on and spending your day elsewhere.”
