Protesters Gather In Numbers To Rally Over Brexit Final Vote

By Ben Kerrigan-

Protesters seeking a referendum on the final Brexit deal gathered at a rally said by organizers as the “biggest” demonstration of its kind.

Young voters led the People’s Vote march to London’s Parliament Square, which supporters say attracted close to 700,000 protesters.  It was also supported by a number of MPs who called for a fresh referendum on whether Britain should leave the European Union, although Uk prime minister Theresa May has already ruled against such outcome. A similar protest was held in Belfast to support the Uk protests in Belfast.

Protesters are reacting to the difficult talks that has taken place between the Uk and The EU, and the appearance of a no deal hanging over negotiations. The European Union is an economic and political integration  of 28 European countries formed after  World War Two. Its formation was to build strong economic and political relations between the member countries.

It was ratified in 1972, but former British prime minister David Cameron invited the British public to vote on a referendum to decide whether Britain should stay in the EU or not. By a narrow majority, Britain voted to exit the Union, but talks between the EU and Britain over a deal have been a very tough road.  Theresa May recently told  EU leaders she would be  willing to accept a one-year extension to the proposed “transition period” .

The UK and the EU need more time to negotiate an agreement to leave the EU, but the question is how much time it would take for a full negotiation to be completed.
