PRELIMINARY HEARING FOR STAR CHELSEA DOCTOR BEGINS

BY TIM PARSONS

The preliminary hearing between Chelsea doctor, Carneiro, and Chelsea ended in a stale mate, with both sides unable to reach an agreement.

The alleged wrong dismissal against her is now scheduled for a full hearing, likely in the summer around June. The preliminary hearing took place at the London South Employment Tribunal in Croydon before a senior employment judge. It lasted three hours with the terms of reference for the full tribunal agreed at the hearing – the list of witnesses and the evidence that can be disclosed, like emails and texts.
Carneiro’s legal team are filing for reinstatement of her position, and also requesting personal injury compensation. The respectable Chelsea doctor also has a separate personal legal action against former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for alleged victimization and discrimination. It follows the prominent 42 year old’s exclusion from the Chelsea bench by Mourinho after she and physio Jon Fearn went onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard during the 2-2 draw with Swansea at Stamford Bridge on August 8.

The action meant that Chelsea were temporarily down to nine men against Swansea, and afterwards Mourinho called Carneiro and Fearn “impulsive and naive”.Carneiro did not appear on the bench again for first-team duties and parted company with the club in September. However, it later emerged that Carneiro had acted on the instructions of the referee, and had an obligation to do so under fifa rules. Carneiro has previously been the subject of lewd tweets from hoards of male football fans, and is highly regarded in both the medical profession and football circles.

However, it later emerged that Carneiro had acted on the instructions of the referee, and had an obligation to do so under fifa rules. Mourinho was clearly wrong and ben unduly bullish of her, refusing to apologize even when in hindsight his actions were shown to be wrong. Although the former Chelsea boss who was replaced in December was later acquitted of discrimination by an investigation conducted by the football association, the investigation was clearly biased because it shamefully did not include an interview of Carneiro, to take into account her version of events. Mourinho acted in excess of his powers, and The eye of media believes the full hearing will arrive at the same conclusion when the case is finally heard.
