Police officer Victim Keith Lamont Scott Had A Gun

BY Aaron Miller-

The released video of the police shooting of 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott gives a clearer picture of what occurred that fateful day. The video filmed by the wife of the victim, clearly reveals the moments leading up to the shooting, in which the officers can be heard telling Scott to drop the gun.

“Don’t shoot him! He has no weapon,” she can be heard telling officers as they  continue to yell at Scott, “Drop the gun!”

Rakeiya is heard telling the officers ”he has no gun”, but the officers clearly have reason not to believe her. Adding to the complexity of the matter is the fact Rakeyia Scott can be heard telling her husband ”don’t do it”, whilst at the same time telling the officers he has no gun. Don’t do what? Most people in the shoes of the officers will have to believe that his wife knows something they don’t.

 SUSPICION

protest, gunShe knows her husband well and would seem to have some suspicion that he is about to start shooting, leading the officers to become equally suspicious and decide to strike first to ensure they live to see another day, including the inquiry that will no doubt follow.

It is not very plausible to believe that so many officers asked the man to drop the gun, if they saw no gun, or had no reason to believe he had a gun.

Rakeiya’s insistence that Keith had no gun must be taken as her attempt to influence  the officers not to shoot and kill him, but the reality has to be that he either had a gun or was pretending to have one. One thing that does complicate the analysis is the fact Scott’s wife told police that her husband suffered from TBI, (traumatic  brain injury)- later discovered to have  occurred as a result of a motor bike

Several gunshots can later be heard in the video, which was released to U.S. media, followed by her screaming, “Did you shoot him? He better not be dead.” The video was filmed from a nearby curb as the drama in the parking lot unfolded in front of Rakeyia Scott.

LOADED

A source close to the investigation told  CNN  that a loaded gun had been recovered at the scene of the crime and that fingerprints, DNA and blood on it matched Scott’s. The eye of media.com was given the same information when we contacted the police department, who refused to give any detailed information about the investigation.  You better believe it, but Keith Lamont Scott had a gun, and his refusal to drop it led to his death. It is sad but true.

EXCESSIVE

Keith Lamont Scott was the 214 th black person killed by U.S. police this year out of an overall total of 821, according to Mapping Police Violence- about 25% of the overall number Of police killings in the U.S  American police are known for their excessive use of force, as well as racist inclination. That said,  the released clip does not show police there to have been excessive. It would be ridiculous to imagine that there would not be any black victims of police shootings, who like some white victims, have posed a legitimate danger to police. The fact the officer who pulled the trigger in this case was black, makes it all the more liely that there was reasonable reason to shoot Scott.

HARM

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief ,Kerr Putney, has told reporters that the video taken by police body cameras supports the police version of events, but he has refused to release the video publicly. He claims releasing it now could harm the investigation into the shooting, being led by the state.
“I know the expectation is that video footage can be the panacea and I can tell you that is not the case,” Putney said, adding that he would eventually agree with the release of the video. “It’s a matter of when and a matter of sequence.”
As America and the world waits for the release of the video, all our prayers must be with the family of the victim, and may Keith Scott soul rest in perfect peace.
