Police Move To remove Video Footage Of Murdered Teen Circulated From Social Media

By James Simons-

Police are in a race to remove  a circulating video footage from social media platforms showing the murder of teenager,  Drekwon Patterson “to prevent further distress to the family”.

The eight-minute  insensitive footage reveals the tragic youngster  being chased and attacked by four thugs, who are all still at large.

The group can then be seen  in the video, running into a black Ford Mondeo, leaving Drekwon for dead.

The posting of the footage, most likely by teenagers who knew him is highly offensive to the family of the victim. It is not know who put the footage of social media, but it is believed there was also an entertainment factor on the part of the insensitive youths who posted the footage.

Tributes have been paid to the youngster who has been described as likeable.

Police are also keen to trace the driver of a van which was seen on CCTV stopping briefly near the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, from the Metropolitan Police yesterday said: ‘I need to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information about this tragic murder – if you know anything that may be significant, please get in touch.

‘In particular, I need to find out more information about a car – a black Ford Mondeo, using registration number YR54 NHN – which was seen on CCTV driving away from the scene and found burnt out in Silver Jubilee Park, NW9 on Friday 19 February.

‘I believe this car was used in an initial attempt to injure Drekwon in a collision on Preston Road.

‘After the Mondeo had been driven at him, Drekwon ran away and was chased by four suspects who had got out of the car, before being caught and fatally stabbed

A Met spokesperson said: “We are aware of CCTV footage relating to the murder being circulated on social media.

“This has not been released by the Metropolitan Police. Enquiries show this was uploaded by a member of the public.

“We are seeking to have the material removed from social media platforms to prevent further distress to the family.

“The MIT (Murder Investigation Team) are aware of the CCTV existence and continue with their investigation.”
