Paedophile Swimming Teacher Guilty Of Sustained Sexual Assaults On Young Children

A paedophile swimming teacher carried out “sustained” sexual assaults on young children during lessons at a north London pool.

Emmanuel Brown, 60, of Forest Gate was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault by touching on December 5 at Wood Green Crown Court.

The victims were girls under the age of thirteen at the time of the attacks. Police said that it was “entirely likely” there could be more victims of Brown’s offending.

Brown, who had been a swimming instructor since 1995, ran classes at the Northumberland Park swimming pool in Tottenham.

The court heard how two separate reports were made to police from two of Brown’s victims in June and July 2020, about their abuse between 2010 – 2012.

A third girl then reported that she had been abused by Brown during lessons in 2019.

Detective Constable Andri Andreou of the North Area Command Unit said: “I have no doubt that Emmanuel Brown is a dangerous sexual predator who poses a significant risk to young children.

“Brown used his position of trust to carry out sustained sexual assaults on these three girls – his behaviour is utterly deplorable.

“Given the offending we know about took place over a decade, it is entirely likely there are other victims of Brown.

“I would urge anyone who has been abused by him to come forward and speak to police – you will be listened to and supported by specially trained officers.”

Detective Constable Andreou gave his “sincere gratitude” to the victims and their families, saying their resilience had made it possible to catch Brown.

“I can only hope that this result goes some way to helping those victims with a form of closure and justice,” he said.

“I hope this case serves to offer some reassurance to the public that crimes of this nature will be investigated by a team of committed and dedicated officers and provides confidence for victims of abuse to speak out against their abusers.”

Brown will be sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on February 27, 2023.

Officers said those wishing to speak to them as a victim of sexual abuse or those who have information about offending of this nature, can contact police on 101. In an emergency dial 999.
