A Birmingham P.E teacher, Shakeel Ahmed, has appeared in court for sexually abusing two former pupils.
The 45 year old is accused of abusing his position of trust by sexually assault former pupils through his position as a teacher. Birmingham crown court heard that Shakeel Ahmed showered his victim with multiple hugs and kisses on the football pitch in an overfriendly way.
On one occasion, the P.E teacher is accused of inviting the boy to Manchester to watch a football game, after which they would watch a film. The court heard that Shakeel Ahmed shocked the defendant when he it turned out that he had only hired one hotel room with a double bee for the pair to share. The victim had no money and no way of going home, so reluctantly agreed to share a room with the P.E teacher, in the hope that it would just be a resting place for the night.
However, things turned problematic when Shakeel Ahmed began to undress and asked the boy to do the same. The boy said he felt ”trapped” so did as he was asked to do. Why the boy did not object is not yet known but will surely emerge in the course of the trial.
Ahmed then told his victim he wanted to practise kissing for his future wife. Before the victim could take in what he heard, Shakeel Ahmed is accused of imposing himself on the boy and kissing him. The pair later went for a meal and Shakeel Ahmed is said to have told the boy that they would continue practising when they got back to the hotel . At this point, the boy declined and went home where he reported the whol;e incident to a member of his family.
The allegation against Shakeel Ahmed is serious and one that could ruin his career if he is found guilty. After reviewing all the evidence, the CPS concluded there was enough evidence that makes the chance of a conviction likely. A number of teachers have found themselves in this type of hot water over sexual allegations, but it still has not stopped other teachers from finding themselves in similarly disgraceful and embarrassing situations.
