An old letter from Donald Trump to Kim Jong-un in which he brags about nuclear weapons has surfaced.
The letter in question dates back to 2018, when the then-president reacted badly to comments made by Kim in the wake of joint army exercises between the US and South Korea, and decided to call off a planned summit between the two sides.
Trump accused Kim of displaying ‘tremendous anger and open hostility’ towards the United States, and while praising the ‘great dialogue’ that had developed between the pair, couldn’t resist getting in a not-so-humble brag about the United States’ nuclear arsenal.
“You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used,” he wrote.
Following renewed tensions between the United States and North Korea after the latter conducted its largest ever missile test last week, the letter has been circulated on Reddit, where users have been reminiscing about the former president’s approach to diplomacy.
“Narrated in my head by Donald Trump,” one person said of the unmistakable tone of the letter, while someone else wrote, “You can say whatever you want about Trump, but the man was a grade A s**t talker.”
“Dear Kim, I wrote you but you still ain’t calling, I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom…” another person joked.
Within a month of the letter being sent, the summit took place with Trump and Kim travelling to Singapore to hold talks, resulting in a joint statement agreeing to security guarantees and more peaceful co-operation between the two nations.
In 2019, Donald Trump also said he had received a “very beautiful letter” from the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, and added that he could have another meeting with him.
Trump is currently under investigation by the bipartisan congressional committee investigating Trump’s phone logs and his conduct during the January 6 insurrection in Capitol Hill.
The White House on Wednesday criticized former President Donald Trump for soliciting dirt on the Bidens from Vladimir Putin while the Russian President’s forces were executing a brutal invasion of Ukraine.
Communications Director Kate Bedingfield said: ‘What kind of American, let alone an ex-President, thinks that this is the right time to enter into a scheme with Vladimir Putin and brag about his connections to Vladimir Putin?’ said White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield when asked about Trump’s comments.
‘There is only one and it’s Donald Trump.’
Today, Trump- the former bizarre president of the United States Of America defended his comment calling Putin a ‘genius’ – saying he was not referring to the invasion that has resulted in millions of refugees and thousands of deaths.
He said he was only referring to Putin’s decision to put 200,000 troops on the border to encircle Ukraine.
‘The Fake News is also saying I called Putin a “genius,” when actually, and to be precise, I called his build-up on the Ukraine Border before the war started genius because I assumed he would be easily able to negotiate a great deal for Russia,’ Trump said.
‘The U.S. and NATO would agree to give Russia what they wanted. Unfortunately, and tragically, Putin went too far, acting on the WEAK Foreign Policy of the Biden Administration. The Fake News said I called him a genius during the war. No, I was describing the great negotiating posture he had prior to the unfortunate decision to enter Ukraine and fight. There was nothing “genius” about that!
