Media watchdog, Ofcom, has delivered a damning verdict on several GB News programs hosted by serving Tory MPs. Five episodes, including two installments of Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg’s “State of the Nation” and three shows featuring married MPs Esther McVey and Philip Davies, have been found to be in breach of broadcasting rules.
Ofcom’s ruling stems from a fundamental principle governing the broadcasting landscape: the impartiality and integrity of news reporting. Under Ofcom regulations, politicians are permitted to host current affairs shows but are prohibited from fronting news programs.
