Mps To Establish Law Making Protests Obstructing Free Press Illegal

By Tony O’Riley-

Mps are preparing to establish a law that prevents protests like those conducted by extinction rebellion.

The plans comes after protesters went so far as to obstruct the printing of newspapers run by Rupert Murdock, affecting The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and other publication.

The message from the protesters that the British press under the instruction of Rupert Muddock,  was giving inadequate coverage to the issue of climate change was overshadowed by the wider observation that they were preventing the operation free press which is necessary for a functioning society, and to hold the government to account.

The essence of the  protesters message was exposed  to be flawed after it was revealed that David Attenborough had a moving article in The Sun Newspaper inaccessible to their readers  due to the mass obstruction caused. However, the article was accessible to online readers of the The Sun, in  which Sir Attenborough condemned criminal activities through protesting even for a just course.

Right To Protest

The right to protest has always been protected by law, but Mps now plan to get parliament to institute a law that makes it a criminal offence to conduct certain types of protests. In a documentary to be shown on netflix this  September 28,  Sir David warns in his film that global warming could also wipe out humans.

Crossroads

He says: “Humanity is at a crossroads. The natural world is under serious threat and the consequences could be apocalyptic.

“I have had an extraordinary, fortunate life. I have worked for 60 years making natural-history films.

“It so happens, during those years there have been greater changes in the relationship between man and the natural world than for 1,000 years.”

Sir Attenborough noted  in his article  that  the animal world has undergone an extinction  over the last 1000 years.  He said  ”there are  just 300 mountain gorillas left and whales were being hunted to extinction, Sir David realised action was required. He now reflects on how half the world’s rainforests have been destroyed and the wild animal population has halved since he was young.

He says: “Humanity is at a crossroads. The natural world is under serious threat and the consequences could be apocalyptic.”

Addressing climate change is certainly important but obstructing free press  through protests rightfully should be made a criminal offence
