Motorists Must Be Aware Of Drink Drivers

By James Simons-

Motorists must be consciously alert and aware of drink drivers this xmas period.

Many reckless drivers will be going behind the wheels with alcohol in their system.

Drinking and driving has long been against the law, but there are always that group of people who ignore the law and do as they please.

The Christmas period is one of the worst periods  for motorists in terms of drink drivers. Whilst there are many drivers who are sensible enough not to drive when drinking, some just risk it in the belief they can handle drinking and driving.  The practice of drinking and driving is dangerous and cost lives in the U.K and all over the world every year.

Most drivers are not always conscious of the risk drink drivers pose to them and drive with the expectation that other drivers are law abiding citizens.  More care and awareness of the existence of drink drivers may help avert accidents on occasions when we think our right of way means we drive as fast as we like on a 30 m.p.h lane.

Drink drivers cut through lanes recklessly without thinking, leading to accidents many times. The influence of alcohol can be deadly. I missed an accident that took place in Woodford by literally 5 mins on Sunday night and both drivers fled the scene of the accident, with their vehicles looking like write off’s.

I was told by witnesses that the pair had been racing with each other through two traffic lights when they collided eventually. One of the witnesses who had been driving on the same lane, eventually stopped for some food at Macdonalds. He had seen one of the drivers purchase some vodka at an off license five minutes earlier, though could not say for sure he had taken alcohol before getting behind the wheels.

The unidentified man drove like one who had alcohol in his system. Only stupid people drink and drive, and anybody who knows one should discourage them and frown at it. No life is worth being lost because some idiot somewhere could not draw boundaries and obey the law.
